Over the past twelve years, Joe Yorio and his team have been catering weddings and special occasions all over CT, Westchester & NY as Event Caterers. Five years ago, they had a small smoker outside their production kitchen/store and the restaurant concept of an upscale BBQ restaurant was born. Today, we’re hanging out and eating at The Cue in Danbury. Bibs on, serious food porn ahead.
When you are hankering for: BBQ with pizzazz and an extra suminsumin’. The Cue uses fresh local produce and every dish cooked in their open kitchen has an element that is cooked on wood, whether in the smoker or the indoor wood grill. If you are in the mood for BBQ, this is the place!
Occasion: The Cue just celebrated their one-year anniversary in September, and we’ve been hearing how great it is from friends for a while. Plus, the thought of “upscale” and “barbecue” together, is very appealing!
What we ate:
When owner/Chef Joe Yorio came to sit with us for a while and asked us what we’d like to try we made the “mistake” of saying, “Some of your favorites!” This is what ensued. Let it be known that we gave a valiant effort to keep up, but with each thing being more melt in the mouth and delicious than the next, we eventually waved the white flag…and brought home to the husbands the doggie bag of their dreams!
But first, cocktails…always.READ MORE

On growing up in the biz…
I grew up in the restaurant business. My Dad owned restaurants since I was 8 years old. After I graduated from Johnson & Wales (Providence) with a culinary arts degree, I came back to this area and worked locally for a while. Eventually, I took a job in the city with restaurant associates where I worked with some of the top chefs, and where I really learned how to cater.
I started Event Caterers in my house, then used the kitchen at the Lebanese Club kitchen downtown. Then the Firehouse kitchen, then I got the store, Gourmet to Go. Finally, closing that to open The Cue!
Event Caterers is now The Cue Catering and we’re still offering the same full service. We serve everything from BBQ to contemporary American. From buffet to plated, small tasting plates. Small intimate parties to huge weddings. We can cook in backyards and venues with just a field!
We bring a 22 ft. trailer for weddings and events and cook and prepare absolutely everything from scratch there on site. The traveling kitchen has a flat open bed with an island, a 4 ft. grill, flat tops, convection ovens, hot boxes, and deep fryer.
On being creative…
We have special Bourbon dinners, and I like to get creative! They always have a theme and a story. One dish I did recently was a salmon swimming up river. I made truffle mash for the river bed bottom, chunks of potato for rocks, caviar eggs and friseé for seaweed, served with seared sushi-sized pieces of salmon. I’m constantly creating in my head. I did pigs in a blanket for adults which was braised pork shoulder with Burgundy wine, like Sunday gravy, wrapped with thick pappardelle. The Bourbon dinners are popular.
So full….but sampling…and loving!
Things you should know:
-Live music every Friday and Saturday night
-Huge Bourbon selection and cool craft beers
-Sunday Brunch – They roast a whole pig and Bloody Marys, Mimosas, Bellinis, and Champagne Kir Royales, plus soft
drinks are unlimited.
-A private room can be booked within the restaurant. Seats 8 comfortably, bigger parties can be accommodated.
Bev’s favorite thing:
Rarely do I eat beef, but this beef brisket was so worth breaking my beef-fast!!!
Lora’s favorite thing:
The beef brisket! And that mac ‘n cheese…..
Weused Cue Catering for our daughter's June Wedding. We hosted a three day weekend. Welcome lobster cook out, Wedding with coocktail hour and BBQ dinner and a Brunch. We had a large menu for the wedding dinner because when we did the tastings everything was so delicious we couldn't eliminate anything!
From the planning stage to the actual events they were incredibly helpful, generous with their time and resources, and very supportive of our vision. We had 170 guests and each plate of the family style dinner came out hot and fresh. We felt thet they were extremely well priced for the service and quality of food, table scape/deecoration and plate presentation . We had a dessert table of outrageously delicious desserts like Jack Daniels cupcakes, hot cinnamon donuts, peanut butter and jelly cookies, fig and lavender macaroons, individual cherry pies with lattice crusts and the list goes on.
The owners, Joe and Sue are so good as it gets! And because their gourment expertise expands to fine dining, we look forward to using them again with a formal menu

I'm finally coming up for air after the crazy weekend, but I wanted to thank you, again for all your efforts in making our rehearsal evening a huge success. In spite of the Woodstock-like weather, everyone had a great time.
The food was delicious, and you and your staff were real troopers. I wish it had been easier on all of you, but, alas, we can't control Mother Nature.
It was certainly a memorable evening for everybody involved!
Thanks, again for making the evening so special for us.
Fondly, Lisa Moisan
My husband and I got married at Candlelight Farms Inn in September 2017 and used The Cue Caterering. We could not have found a better catering company! Our guests are still talking about the amazing food (the mac and cheese is my personal favorite)! We also had several vegans and vegetarians and Sue & Joe made an excellent seasonal dish for them as well.
On top of providing excellent food, their service really is above and beyond. Their staff made sure my husband and I always had a drink in our hands and made sure to keep a constant supply of hors d’oeurves delivered during our photos. Sue also made sure that my husband and I got our dinner immediately so we didn’t forget to eat.
Sue and Joe were so great at making sure everything went smoothly. I learned after the fact that there was an issue with the bathroom trailer we rented and Joe actually was coordinating to try to fix it, which was totally above and beyond his job description.
I would definitely use them for a party in the future and highly recommend their services, especially to anyone getting married at Candlelight Farms!! I’d also suggest checking out The Cue to give their BBQ a try!
Sue and the crew from Cue Catering made our wedding day a dream come true. She was so easy to work with - met with us to discuss food, decorations, she even knew most of the vendors I used and worked with them too!! The food was amazing - guests are still raving about it all! I highly recommend Cue Catering for any function in CT - especially the "not so typical" venue such as ours in an old, abandoned airport hangar at Candlelight Farms in New Milford. It was absolutely stunning! Thank you so much Sue and crew!
Sue and the entire Cue Catering staff were excellent. Sue was easy to work with, thorough, and her attention to detail made the night run seamlessly. She made sure everything was laid out as we had planned prior to guests arriving. At our tasting, the chef, Joe, was able to accommodate both my fiancé and my tastes perfectly. Our guests raved about the food. I would recommend Cue Catering again and again, they were wonderful and such nice people.
We can't say enough wonderful things about Cue Catering! We were absolutely blown away by the service and the food. My wedding guests are still talking about how delicious everything was. Sue, Joe & team are incredible people to work with and made everything seamless.
There isn't enough to say about Joe, Sue and the workers at Event Caterer's. Everything about them, from the moment we met, was complete hospitality, friendliness and professionalism. The food was to die for, and most guests have said they've never tasted food as elegant at any other wedding. We did the "Family Style", to offer a more elegant twist to 'buffet style', and the food, including our picky eating friends, was loved by EVERYONE. Sue was helpful in decorating and making everything perfect the day of as well, which helped ease my mind. My husband and I had our wedding at Candlelight Farms Inn on September 16th of 2017, and nothing short of a beautiful day it was. The food, the decor, the staff. We love you Joe and Sue! Anyone looking for comfort and a family feel of belonging, as well as outstanding food, look no further!
Cue Catering is the catering company to use if you are getting married at Candlelight Farms Inn, or in fact, any other venue - they are that good. Food was extremely important to us, and to say it simply, their food is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Fresh, seasonal, local ingredients are used in a unique, gourmet presentation. You will not be disappointed in their food. In addition, they have a wide selection to choose from to satisfy everyone's taste. Cue Catering did a great job accommodating several dietary needs at our wedding making sure all of our guests were taken care of. The team at Cue Catering is easy to work with, flexible and professional. On the day of our wedding, Cue Catering staff went above and beyond to make sure every task was attended to, food came out fast and every guest was satisfied. I cannot say enough good things about Cue Catering; you will not be disappointed!
